Seeds of obsession
Seeds of obsession, slowly unfold,
in the realms of my mind, my vision resolves.
The rays that impinge on the shadows of night,
show colours that dance in the candour of light.
Out of the darkness, these colours of chance,
each come together in sheer circumstance.
The recesses deep, bathed in ultramarine,
infuse in an ocean, much too seldom seen.
Magentas dissolve, into soft cobalt blues,
whilst green plays with yellow, like artist and muse.
The harshness of whites, diffuse softly and gentle,
on velvety contours recumbent and sensual.
The sun then peeks through, the last bastion of night,
and I bathe in my vision, through the shimmering light.

I wrote this piece of verse after finishing the painting “Seeds of Obsession. After working solidly on the large piece ( 260 x 130cms ) for nearly four weeks, I slumped in my studio armchair and slowly began to write down my feelings about the essence of this painting.
If you truly feel for the subject that you are working on, it compels you to keep going to the point of exhaustion. At that point, when you are verging on a state of hallucination, you virtually become part of that work and for a while, you slip into the depth of its surface and swim within its hues and its highlights and its shadows, until, you are able to free yourself from its enchantment!
